A Cold Evening in Paris

We spent a very long, chilly day here right after Christmas. We walked our ashtabula off, seeing everything from the Arc de Triomphe to the obligatory hour-long visit to the Louvre to Notre Dame to the Musee d'Orsay (home of the Impressionist classics) to a very quick nightime climb up to the first level of the Eiffel Tower. Had an excellent lunch near the catacombs, with excellent food and extremely friendly and polite waiters. What happened to the old days of surly Parisians unable to conceal their hatred of Americans? We didn't find a single one! All in all, a great day in a jewel of a city. And it's only a couple of hours from here!

  2. Thanks for keeping us up-to-date with your adventures. Keep a spare bedroom for us when I retire. It probably won't be this school year, but in June 2010. (I need more money --- our investments "tanked" along with everyone else!!) Gosh, 2010 sounds so far in the future. Just think, I remember Buck Rogers!!! -- Who's that?? Tell Robb I said HI and I miss our music lesson together. GREAT KID!!
